Google Sites is a platform Google offers to help individuals and businesses connected online at no charge so long as you have a gmail account set up. Lets get you started.

Please note: Google Sites can be accessed from the applications in the upper right hand corner of your screen BUT to simplify the process, go ahead and click the following link to get you there.

Step 1: Click here

Step 2: Get started by clicking blank or by choosing a template and making changes.

PLEASE NOTE

Dont let this screen intimidate you. Lets go through a cool concept that Web Developers call the box model. Ultimately, websites are comprised of a ton of boxes that are placed on top of eachother, side-to-side, have different sizes and different features which you can select.

Lets push forward by:

  • Clicking template gallery

  • Then clicking Dog Walker

This template is only one page long and easy to work with. Go ahead, follow along!

updating and publishing your site

Step 1: Click on the box that says [Name] Dog Walking & Pet Sitting and update the information to your name and your occupation. Also, in the upper left next to the purple icon - replace Dog Walker with your occupation. I will enter Senor Web, Web Helper

Step 2: That box - is inside a larger box with a picture of dogs in it. At the bottom of the box (with dogs in it) - click reset. This will remove the dog picture.

Step 3: Click on the box labeled About Me and replace the details with your own. For those that aren't too sure what to type, follow the same format. Type:

  • your occupation

  • why you love it

  • any professional experience or licensure.

Step 4: Click on the last box, update your availability as well as your phone and email. Feel free to delete the other fields.

Step 5: Click Publish (top right corner), fill in your name, and click Publish again.

You're all done! You're website can be found at https://sites.google.com/view/yournamehere
